Philippians 2:1-4

1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Verse 4 hits me. I am a volunteer of the Red Cross and became one very recently. I find it very sad that there are not more volunteers. We help others in their time of loss.

  2. DJ says:

What shot out at me was the phrase “having the same love.” Everyone loves, but not everyone loves like Christ, yet here He is telling us to have the same love as He has, and to use it as He has. A tall order, to be sure, and yet if we would all at least try to have the same love as Christ, what a difference we could make in this world.

  3. Mary M says:

“do nothing out of selfish ambition and vain conceit,” spoke to me. What is best for the greater good is difficult. It’s not all about me. I will strive to be humble this day and make those around me feel valued and supported.
