Ephesians 3:14-19

14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

      Verse 16 is what is speaking to me…I feel a hunger for the strengthening of power through his Spirit in my inner being. I need that cornerstone so the rest of his blessings can be built in me in order to be a brighter light to others.

    I’m thinking about how God strengthens us in our inner being and also roots and establishes us in love. That speaks to me of a solid foundation to stand on. He strengthens us in every way!

    In the verses just before these, Paul is telling the church in Ephesus not to be discouraged and then says, “for this reason” I’m praying for you to further understand God’s love. As we understand God’s love more and more we are less likely to stay discouraged. That makes me want even more to grasp (even a little) the huge vastness of God’s love.

    I use this prayer often for my loved ones. My greatest prayer for them is verse 17, that their roots would grow down into God’s love.
    I would also like to share what my NLT study Bible has for verse 18:
    God’s love is total. I reaches every corner of our experience. It is wide–it covers the breadth of our own experience, and it reaches out to the whole world. God’s love is long–it continues the length of our lives. It is high–it rises to the heights of our celebration and elation. His love is deep–it reaches to the depths of discouragement, despair, and even death. You can never be lost to God’s love.
