Kindness Challenge

In her latest social research, Shaunti Feldhahn discovered that kindness is a superpower that can transform a tough relationship or make a good one even better!

She found that by doing just 3 simple things every day for 30 days, 89% of people improved a relationship!

It’s called the 30-Day Kindness Challenge!

Here’s how it works.

Pick a person with whom you want to have a better relationship.

  1. Say nothing negative about that person – either to them or about them.
  2. Each day find one positive thing you can affirm about that person both to them and to somebody else.
  3. Every day, do one small act of kindness or generosity for them.

We think you’ll be amazed at how intentional kindness transforms your relationship, impacts those around you and changes you.

Here are a few tips to help you get a great start!

  • Pick up a copy of The Kindness Challenge: Thirty Days to Improve Any Relationship by author Shaunti Feldhahn. It has some great insights and can serve as a road map for successfully completing the challenge.

  • Sign up for free daily emails from Shaunti. She has coaching tips and ideas as you go that can really help on days when you are struggling! Make sure you set your start date as June 1 and you can always unsubscribe from her lists when the Challenge is over! (Our team agreed these are really helpful!)
  • Watch the Lunch and Learn event from June 2. Shaunti unpacked some of her research and helped us get a great start with the Challenge! It was a 30-minute presentation followed by 30 minutes of Q&A time. (The feedback from participants indicated it was well worth the investment of time to watch it!)

Once again, our amazing Lord has provided just what I needed just when I needed it through My Bridge! I cannot express my gratitude to the entire My Bridge community, my life has been touched and guided by God through all of you time and time again! This truly is His answer to my prayers to find kindness for a particular individual in my life. I have not made much progress, but am making more now after hearing about the KINDNESS CHALLENGE and the ways we will implement it into daily life. It is very difficult to be kind, but I know our God wants only the best for us and anger, resentment, judgment, and arrogance have no place in my heart if I am truly living the life He has given me. So I am getting a head start, no reason to wait till June 1st to be kind!

Michele, I’m so glad you will join us for the kindness challenge… as you stated so well… it is a CHALLENGE! It’s not easy to be kind especially when someone is not kind to you! But, we hope you find support and encouragement from us along the way. The lunch and learn is a great place to start!

  3. Elisabeth says:

Thank you so much! This is awesome what you are doing

  4. Heather says:

Is there a way to get the information from the Lunch & Learn after that time? I love the idea of lunch and learn, unfortunately my schedule as a teacher prevented me from joining the last time you did this. And this time we are closing on our house on this day so I will be unavailable/without internet. But I would love to watch the lunch and learn afterward, kind of like what is available with radio rewind. Thanks!

    1. Holly Schoenecker says:

Yes, I will post a video of the Lunch and Learn here on our website when it’s over!

      1. Heather says:

        Awesome thanks!

I am so glad you are participating in the kindness challenge. As someone stated above, this is happening just when I need it. Not for me specifically, but for my two older daughters who I pray will do this for each other. I do intend to participate. The person I want to do it for does not live in the same town. Is this possible to do? Thank you.

    1. Holly Schoenecker says:

This is a great question about doing the Kindness Challenge for someone who does not live in the same town. During the lunch and learn on Friday, there will be a 30 minute Q/A opportunity. I’ll pass this question on to the moderators to have Shaunti speak to there.

      1. Regina Hanson says:

Wonderful thank you! I do not know if I can listen to live broadcast, but will definitely listen to the rewind.

Shaunti covered well about what to do if you don’t live in the same town as the person you are doing the kindness challenge for during the lunch and learn. Here is the link! https://zoom.us/recording/play/tITe9TmVzrE0U9JywKFJXy0GPX-lRPiz1xeeQtZrm5o_xkO8cZA_XP_nHoUr355c

I did the “kindness challenge” on my own a few years ago with a co-worker. I a was newly hired employee at a Wal-Mart type store and there was one co-worker who did not like me. She was rude to me, humiliated me, etc. I really wanted to quit but I loved my job. So I just kept treating her like I did everyone else. I was kind and considerate, complimented her. Genuinely thanked her when she helped me. Greeted her in the mornings, etc. It took awhile but little by little she softened and stopped treating me so badly. In fact overtime she became a good friend. And at the end before I left that job I could tell she respected me and was actually happy to see me on the days I worked with her. She even at times “had my back” if the situation arose. If I would not have lived it I would not believe it! Kindness REALLY DOES WORK!!

      Very cool! Thanks for sharing!

Day 1 of the Kindness Challenge off to a great start. It was fun trying to figure out the act of kindness!! I picked some yellow roses from our yard and put them by my hubby’s place with a note saying “Good morning!” Its been a long time since I gave him flowers.
I know God is guiding me with this challenge and it was affirmed when I got notice that I won a copy of Shaunti’s book The Kindness Challenge!!
I am so blessed to be doing this challenge and look forward to the next 29 days and all that days following!!

    1. Holly Schoenecker says:

      Thanks for sharing Jo!
