Comedian Anita Renfroe’s Flat-Out Funny Tour – Omaha
October 7, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm| $15 - $30
Christian comedian Anita Renfroe and Prison Fellowship International are partnering to help rescue children of prisoners overseas through an exclusive 20-city tour. The brand new Flat-Out Funny Tour comes to Omaha on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Westside Church on West Dodge Road.
Renfroe rocketed from stay-at-home-mom to comic “phe-mom-enon” when her song “Momisms” went viral on YouTube. Set to the tune of the William Tell Overture, the hit sums up everything moms say to their kids in less than three minutes.
“I’d rather people laugh because they relate to something I say than because I wrote a clever punch line,” says Renfroe. “All my stuff is about my life – it’s real and it connects people.”
Sponsored by Prison Fellowship International, Renfroe’s tour helps raise awareness about the 14 million children, worldwide, who have a parent in prison. These children are among the world’s most vulnerable, persistently exposed to abuse and exploitation into sex trafficking and child labor. Without intervention, they are five to ten times more likely to end up in prison themselves.
“I’ve got five grandchildren. I want them to have every opportunity in the world,” says Renfroe. “But when you’re a child of a prisoner, you’re not only outcast, you’re the outcast of the outcast. It’s time we give these children a voice. And sometimes it takes a little laughter to start a very difficult, very necessary conversation.”
